AMD to Power the Governing Body of World Motorsport

AMD Named "Official Technology Partner" of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile

AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced it will become the OfficialTechnology Partner of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile(FIA), the international non-profit organization concerned withautomotive, motoring and mobility issues and the governing body ofworld motor sport. Through this new relationship, AMD will lendtechnology expertise across a range of activities in the automotiveand motor sports sectors and provide technological counsel as the FIAformulates automotive public policies and regulations for motorsports.

In addition, AMD will provide computing solutions, includingserver, desktop and mobile systems based on AMD64 technology to theFIA to support race control, Web site hosting, and data management atFormula One races worldwide. AMD64 technology is the Gold standard in64-bit computing. AMD64 enables enterprise organizations to maximizethe performance of their software, and allows them to make the most oftheir current and future investments.

The FIA Formula One World Championship is one of the mostsuccessful and highly visible forms of motor sport in the world. AMDhas been involved in Formula One since 2002 as the Official TechnologyPartner of the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team and also most recently as anOfficial Technology Partner of the Sauber Petronas F1 team.

Earlier this year, the FIA, in collaboration with AMD, launchedthe first global fan survey to gauge public opinion of the sport andhelp shape the future of Formula One regulations. The survey wascompleted by more than 90,000 respondents from 180 countries andshowed that fans respect the role of technology in F1 as a majordifferentiator for the sport. Survey participants said they believetechnology developed in F1 racing improves the design, safety andefficiency of commercial road cars and 71 percent of the respondentsindicated a desire to see more technical information in F1.Preliminary results of the FIA/AMD Formula One Survey 2005 werepublished in the August issue of F1 Racing magazine.
