Alcatel-Lucent Q3 Loss Widens On Charge, Revenues Rise - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - French telecom equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent SA (ALU), which is being acquired by Finland's Nokia Corp. (NOK), reported Thursday a net loss group share of 206 million euros in its third quarter, wider than last year's loss of 18 million euros. Loss per share was 0.07 euro, compared to loss of 0.01 euro a year ago. Loss per ADS was 0.08 euro, compared to last year's 0.01 euro.

The company said the larger net loss was mainly due to the impact of a non-cash goodwill impairment charge related to ASN.

In the quarter, adjusted operating income was 212 million euros, 42 percent higher than last year's 170 million euros.margin also improved 100 basis points to 6.2 percent.

Alcatel-Lucent said it delivered another quarter of continuing improvement in profitability, with gross and operating margins up, reflecting sustained strong focus on execution as the Group prepares to combine with Nokia.

Revenues increased 5 percent to 3.43 billion euros from 3.25 billion euros a year earlier. Group revenues, excluding Managed Services and at constant perimeter, increased 7 percent, with notable strength from next-generation technologies revenues, up 23 percent.

At constant exchange rates, Group revenues dropped 5 percent.

For 2015 as a whole, Core Networking revenues are expected to be in a range of 6.8 billion euros to 7.0 billion euros and adjusted operating margin is now expected to be at a level similar to 2014.

The Group also announces today preliminary results of its US pension lump-sum offer.
