U.S. Factory Orders Fall In Line With Estimates In September

(RTTNews) - New orders for U.S. manufactured goods fell in line with economist estimates in the month of September, according to a report released by the Commerce Department on Tuesday, with the decrease largely reflecting a sharp drop in orders for transportation equipment.

The report said factory orders fell by 0.6 percent in September after tumbling by 10.0 percent in August. The continued decrease in orders matched the consensus estimate.

Meanwhile, excluding the steep drop in orders for transportation equipment, factory orders came in nearly flat for the second consecutive month.
