Singapore's Economy May Grow Less Than Estimated In 2014, Says Lee

(RTTNews) - Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Friday said the economy may grow less than the government estimate this year.

The economy will probably grow in the range of 2.5 percent to 3.5 percent in 2014, Lee said in his National Day Message.

The latest growth projection is slightly slower than the 2-4 percent predicted by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. In the first half of 2014, the city-state economy grew 3.5 percent.

"We must keep up this growth over the next decade to help you improve your lives," he said. "Whichever path our students and workers take, ultimately we need a vibrant economy to produce good jobs and fulfilling careers," Lee said.

The MTI is set to release the second quarter GDP data on August 12.
