Singapore Jobless Rate Steady At 1.9%

(RTTNews) - Singapore's unemployment rate held steady in the final quarter of 2024, the flash data from the Ministry of Manpower showed on Monday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate stood at 1.9 percent in the fourth quarter, the same as in the previous quarter.

Data also showed that total employment growth slowed from 22,300 to 8,700 in the fourth quarter, though it was still higher than the 3,900 a year ago.  Employment growth for both residents and non-residents was slower compared to the third quarter.

In 2024, the unemployment rate was 2.0 percent, up from 1.9 percent in 2023. Employment growth was 45,000, slower than 78,800 in 2023.
