Portugal PPI Falls At Faster Rate In July

(RTTNews) - Portugal's producer prices continued to decline in July and at a faster pace than in the previous month, figures from Statistics Portugal showed Tuesday.

The producer price index fell 2.5 percent year-over-year in July, following a 1.9 percent decrease in June. In May, prices had dropped 1.7 percent.

Prices in the manufacturing sector dipped 2.9 percent in July from a year ago and and that for utility sector went down by 1.0 percent.

Excluding the grouping energy, the index climbed 0.2 percent annually in July, the agency said.

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 0.4 percent in July, faster than a 0.2 percent fall in the prior month. It was the second successive monthly decrease.
