Latvia's Industrial Production Growth Accelerates In June

(RTTNews) - Latvia's industrial production grew at a faster pace in June, the Central Statistical Bureau reported Wednesday.

Industrial production climbed 7.9 percent in June from a year ago, following a 5.4 percent increase in May.

Production in manufacturing advanced 8.2 percent and increased by 9.6 percent in electricity and gas supply. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying output dropped 3.2 percent.

Month-on-month, industrial production gained 0.7 percent after climbing 2.3 percent in May.

In the second quarter, industrial production increased 4.4 percent from prior quarter. Within overall output, manufacturing and electricity and gas supply advanced 4.6 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively. On the other hand, mining and quarrying logged a 4.7 percent drop.

On a yearly basis, industrial output moved up 3.2 percent in the second quarter.
