Finland Economic Output Expands For Second Month

(RTTNews) - Finland's economic output advanced for the second straight month in December, figures from Statistics Finland showed Monday.

Output rose a working-day-adjusted 0.6 percent year-over-year in December, following a 0.2 percent climb in November, which was revised from a 0.5 percent fall reported earlier.

Secondary production, which includes manufacturing and construction grew 5.0 percent in December from last year, while primary production went down by 2 percent and services by 1.0 percent.

Seasonally adjusted GDP is estimated to have fallen by 0.1 per cent from the previous quarter. According to the series adjusted for working days, GDP was 0.3 per cent down on the corresponding quarter of the year before, the agency said.

In a separate report, the statistical office revealed that the current account deficit of the country widened notably to EUR 191 million in December from EUR 13.0 million in November.

In the corresponding month of the previous year, the current account showed a surplus of EUR 209 million.
