Eurozone Trade Surplus Falls In December
(RTTNews) - The euro area trade surplus declined in December as exports decreased from prior month, while imports logged a monthly growth, data from Eurostat showed Monday.
Exports dropped 0.3 percent in December from November to EUR 170 billion. On the other hand, imports rose 0.8 percent to EUR 149 billion.
As a result, the trade surplus fell to EUR 21 billion from EUR 22.6 billion in November.
Meanwhile, the extra-EU trade surplus more than doubled to EUR 11.6 billion from EUR 5.7 billion a month ago.
On an unadjusted basis, the Eurozone trade surplus totaled EUR 24.3 billion compared to EUR 23.6 billion in the same period of last year. Year-on-year, exports and imports climbed 3 percent each.
