Bulgaria CPI Remains Flat In January

(RTTNews) - Bulgaria's consumer prices showed no variations at the beginning of the year, figures from the National Institute of Statistics showed Monday.

The consumer price index remained flat in January from a year ago, following a 0.4 percent drop in December.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages went up 0.5 percent in January and clothing and footwear prices grew by 1.7 percent. At the same time, transport costs fell 2.6 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained unchanged for the second straight month in January.

The EU measure of inflation, or HICP, dropped 0.3 percent annually in January and it edged down 0.1 percent from the preceding month.
