BRAZIL: Eliseu Padilha Sworn In As Acting Ministry Of Labor
(RTTNews) - Brazil's chief-of-staff Eliseu Padilha will temporarily head the Ministry of Labor, replacing Helton Yomura, who resigned Thursday after being suspended by the country's Supreme Court. Padilha will remain as chief-of-staff of President Michel Temer while works as acting Minister of Labor.
The Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) suspended Yomura for his alleged involvement in a fraudulent union registration scheme within the Ministry of Labor.
Yomura spent less than three months as minister of Labor. His lawyers deny he is involved in the scheme.
After testifying to the Federal Police yesterday morning, Yomura refused to reveal to the authorities the password of his cell phone.
