BRAZIL: Center-south Sugarcane Crush Is 42.67% Up From Last Year
(RTTNews) - Brazil's center-south sugarcane crush for the 2018-19 crop was 42.67% from April until May 1 compared to the same period from a year before, totaling 59.842 million tons, said the Union of Sugarcane Industry (Unica).
Total ethanol production reached 2.722 billion million liters, up 67.70% from a year before, with 567 million liters of anhydrous ethanol (+14.22%) and 2.155 billion liters of hydrous ethanol (+91.24%). Meanwhile, sugar production rose 21.63%, totaling 2.238 million tons.
Regarding production mix, 65.73% of the raw material obtained was used for ethanol production, while the remaining 34.27% went to sugar production.
Total Recoverable Sugar (TRS) reached 114.50 kilograms per ton of sugarcane, 3.38% higher than in the same period of the 2017/2018 cycle.
