Australia Construction Index 45.9 In January - AIG
(RTTNews) - The construction sector in Australia continued to contract in January, albeit at a slower pace, the latest survey from the Australian Industry Group showed on Friday with a Performance of Construction Index score of 45.9.
That's up from 44.4 in December, although it remains below the boom-or-bust level of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.
Among the individual components of the survey, construction for houses and for apartments both defied the increase by turning deeper into contraction.
