Siemens Receives Order from FPL Energy for up to 600 Megawatts of Wind Turbines

Siemens Power Generation (Siemens) today announced anagreement with FPL Energy, the wholesale generation subsidiary of FPLGroup, Inc. (NYSE: FPL) for wind turbines totaling up to 600megawatts.

Siemens will manufacture, install and commission its 2.3-MW Mk IIwind turbines for FPL Energy. Delivery of the wind turbines will beginin 2006 and support the planned expansion of wind-driven electricitygeneration projects at FPL Energy.

"Wind projects continue to be an important part of the growthstrategy for FPL Energy," said Jim Robo, president of FPL Energy."This new turbine agreement with Siemens provides us with a platformto deploy turbines early next year."

"This agreement with FPL Energy is important because it is thefirst wind power contract for our growing wind power business in theAmericas region since Siemens acquired Bonus Energy last December,"said Randy Zwirn, member, Siemens Power Generation ExecutiveManagement and president and CEO, Siemens Power Generation, Inc..

"The wind power business, especially in the U.S. and Canada, ismore favorable now than it was in the past," added Zwirn. "With theincreased focus on clean renewable energy, as well as high natural gasprices and volatility, wind power is an increasingly attractivealternative. In addition, the recently passed Federal Energy PolicyAct includes provisions for subsidies and tax credits for thedevelopment of renewable energy, which enhances the attractiveness forour customers."
