Credit Suisse and Glencore International Announce Strategic Alliance in Energy Trading
Under the strategic alliance, the companies have agreed for thebusiness to operate from the premises of a Glencore subsidiary inStamford, Connecticut staffed by a sales and trading team from CreditSuisse. The team will include marketers, structurers as well as oilderivatives traders. Plans call for expanding the business to operatefrom facilities of Glencore's subsidiaries in London and Singapore inthe future. No other terms of the agreement were disclosed.

With Glencore asour partner, we will be well positioned to succeed in the petroleumcommodities business and provide our clients with customized, value-enhancing solutions," said Jim Healy, Head of Fixed Income within theInvestment Banking division of Credit Suisse.

Credit Suisse created the Energy Trading and Marketing Group inOctober 2004 with an initial focus on the power and natural gastrading business. Through the Alliance with Glencore, Credit Suisse isexpanding into petroleum derivatives, covering a broad range ofclients from financial funds to owners and suppliers of petroleumproducts.
