Vale S.A. -- Moody's comments that shareholders support is positive for Samarco, but negative for Vale and BHP Billiton
New York, July 29, 2016 -- Moody's Investors Service comments that the announcement made by Vale S.A. (Ba3 Negative) and BHP Billiton Limited (A3 Negative) recognizing provisions for the Agreement with Brazilian authorities to support remediation and compensation programs in the areas affected by Samarco Mineração S.A. (C no outlook)'s dam collapse in November 2015, as well as additional support to Samarco's working capital needs, is credit positive for Samarco, but credit negative for Vale and BHP Billiton.
