New York, March 17, 2016 -- Moody's says SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc.'s (SeaWorld) announcement that it will phase out its theatrical based orca shows in favor of more natural oriented encounters is expected to be a short and long term positive, but the medium term impact is less certain. Its current theatrical show is expected to end in 2016 at its San Diego park, followed by its shows at San Antonio and Orlando in 2019. Orca breeding at its parks will also be discontinued. In addition, SeaWorld entered into a partnership with the Humane Society of the United States to focus on preserving oceans and marine life. The partnership may also help SeaWorld receive more credit for the rescue efforts the company conducts for injured or distressed marine and wildlife.
