Moody's: Weak Demand Leads to Negative Outlook for North American Coal Industry
New York, March 12, 2015 -- The outlook for the North American coal industry has been changed to negative from stable, Moody's Investors Service says in a new report. Persistently weak demand for metallurgical (met) coal will lead to lower earnings over the next 12-18 months, and along with near-term challenges in the thermal coal sector will exacerbate the industry's long-term, secular decline.
