Moody's: Rise in student applications creating greater financial risk for some colleges
New York, October 02, 2014 -- The steady rise in the number of student applications colleges are receiving is heightening risk for a growing number of these institutions because their incoming class sizes are becoming difficult to predict, says Moody's Investors Service. A rising portion of colleges have a yield on acceptances--that is the portion of accepted applicants who actually enroll--that is now so low that traditional financial models for projections and budgeting no longer work, according to the Moody's report "Rising Student Applications Complicate College Enrollment Projections and Budgeting."
