New York, September 16, 2014 -- On Friday August 15, 2014, the Village of Hempstead, NY (rated A2 stable) was delinquent in the making the interest payment on its Various Purposes Serial Bonds -- 2009 Series A and the principal and interest payments on its Various Purposes Serial Bonds -- 2012. According to village management, the mistake was made due to an administrative oversight. Upon realizing the error, the village made the full payments for both series of debt on Monday August 18, 2014. Moody's believes the payment delay was due to an administrative error, not an impairment of the village's ability to pay.
