WMBAA Hosts First Annual Swap Execution Facility Conference
The Wholesale Markets Brokers’ Association, Americas (WMBAA) today hosted the first annual Swap Execution Facility Conference, referred to as "SEFCON 1,” focusing on the role and operation of Swap Execution Facilities (SEFs) under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The conference is taking place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, D.C. and includes a comprehensive overview of the new regulatory category for US swap market intermediaries.

SEFCON 1 is the first of its kind since the passage of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the establishment of the SEF category. The WMBAA and its partners have supported the actions of the current administration and now seek to ensure the establishment of effective rules and regulations.
Gary Gensler, Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), acted as keynote speaker (photo attached) at today’s event. Numerous other regulatory and industry participants were scheduled to speak on panels and sessions throughout the day.
