WestRock Reports Strong Q3 Results

(RTTNews) - WestRock Co. (WRK) Wednesday announced financial results for its third quarter ended June 30.

On July 1, Rock-Tenn Co. and MeadWestvaco Corp. completed a strategic combination of their respective businesses. After completion of the deal, RockTenn and MeadWestvaco became subsidiaries of WestRock.

RockTenn's net income for the third quarter rose to $156.4 million or $1.10 per share from $133.3 million or $0.91 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Adjusted earnings for the third quarter were $1.15 per share, compared to $0.98 per share in the prior year quarter.

RockTenn's net sales for the third quarter grew slightly to $2.54 billion from $2.53 billion a year earlier.

MeadWestvaco's net sales for the third quarter fell to $1.42 billion from $1.47 billion a year earlier, while segment income rose to $207 million from $193 million last year.
