washingtonpost.com and Newsweek.com Anchor Decision Tuesday Live Video Election Special
washingtonpost.com and Newsweek.com will host their third live election
Web cast for the Texas and Ohio primaries on March 4th
from 7:00 – 10:00 pm ET. C-SPAN will also air
portions of this election special live to their viewers, expanding
coverage of this critical election battle across multiple formats.
Jon Meacham, the Editor of Newsweek, will anchor the program along with
The Washington Post, washingtonpost.com and Newsweek’s
political teams, including Dan Balz, Chris Cillizza, Anne Kornblut,
Howard Fineman, Michael Isikoff, Holly Bailey, and Eleanor Clift,
offering unique insights into one of the most crucial primary days--one
that could determine the ultimate party nominees.
The Decision Tuesday Election Special will feature full analysis by
campaign veterans Bob Shrum and Liz Cheney. Guests will include Senator
John Kerry, Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan, Texas
Congressmen Al Green and Charles Gonzales, Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown,
Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Clinton strategist Maria Cardona,
President of the National Institute for Latino Policy Angelo Falcon, and
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, in addition to reporters stationed in
cities throughout Ohio and Texas, who will call into the program with
breaking news and coverage from the trail.
The program will include interactive elements from washingtonpost.com
and Newsweek.com. Viewers will be able to submit questions to the
guests. For those on mobile phones, washingtonpost.com will offer
readers immediate alerts of the primary results.
"The combined power of The Post’s
political journalists in the live format has been so well-received, it
was an easy choice to produce another. We have the flexibility to bring
viewers continuous coverage, combined with interactive features for a
truly on-demand experience,” said Jim Brady,
Executive Editor of washingtonpost.com. "We're pleased to offer the
video element of this Web cast to the C-SPAN viewers as well."
"We've been really pleased by the reaction we've had from our
audiences," said Deidre Depke, editor of Newsweek.com. "It turns out
that many people are eager to hear the sort of sophisticated
conversation that we're producing. They see it as a welcome relief to
much of the television coverage."
Tammy Haddad, former Vice President and Executive Producer of political
coverage at MSNBC and President of Haddad Media and washingtonpost.com’s
Assistant Managing Editor of News Video, Chet Rhodes, are Executive
Producers of this election special. They previously produced live video
Web casts for Super Tuesday’s elections and
the "Potomac Primary.”
Decision Tuesday Election Special will begin with a preview show at 4:30
pm ET and will take place between 7:00 pm –
10:00 pm ET on washingtonpost.com/postpoliticstv
and through washingtonpost.com and Newsweek.com’s
homepages.
