Walmart Recalls Rival Electric Water Kettles For Burn And Shock Hazards

(RTTNews) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) is recalling about 1.2 million Rival brand electric water kettles manufactured in China after several reports of burns and shocks were reported.

The recall involves kettles with model numbers WK8283CU and WK8283CUY, which were sold exclusively at Walmart stores from March 2011 through October 2015 for about $14.

"The heating element can fail and rupture, posing burn and shock hazards to the user," Wal-Mart said in a statement. Walmart has asked customers to immediately stop using the product and return it a Walmart store for a full refund.

Walmart said it received 80 reports of incidents, including seven reports of burns.
