VSNL Selects Tekelec to Upgrade Long-Distance Network; Deployment Give

    MORRISVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 2005--Tekelec (NASDAQ:TKLC), a leading developer of telecommunications products for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, today announced Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) has selected the Tekelec EAGLE(R) 5 Signaling Application System (SAS) to manage its long-distance signaling and inter-carrier traffic as well as measure short message service traffic.
    VSNL, an India-based long-distance and international long-distance carrier, will deploy an EAGLE 5 SAS for its operations on the subcontinent. Tekelec's technical acumen in the signaling arena as well as its proven experience and market presence in India were major factors in VSNL's selection of Tekelec over several bidders.
