VIVUS Names Michael Astrue Chairman & Anthony Zook CEO, Effective Today

(RTTNews) - VIVUS, Inc. (VVUS), which recently began selling the obesity drug Qsymia capsules CIV in the United States, announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Michael Astrue as Chairman and Anthony Zook to serve as Chief Executive Officer, effective today.

The company specified that the new team pledges fast action to bring anti-obesity drug Qsymia to more patients.

Astrue formerly served as Chief Executive Officer of Transkaryotic Therapies, Chairman of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, and Commissioner of Social Security, the company noted.

Zook formerly served as Executive Vice President, Global Commercial Operations for AstraZeneca and President of Medimmune, the company added.
