Vitesse and EN-Genius Network Announce Discover Your True EyeQ: VScope™ Engineering Design Challenge
Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Pink Sheets:VTSS), together with EN-Genius Network, the premier online editorial source for electronic design engineers, announced today they are accepting entries for the "Discover Your True EyeQ” VScope Engineering Design Challenge launched at DesignCon 2009. The contest invites both engineers and engineering students to submit a paper focusing on a unique VScope-inspired design application for the chance to win one of three cash prizes, including a top prize of $10,000 USD.
Since its announcement one year ago, Vitesse’s VScope embedded waveform viewing technology has become a "must-have” tool for top-tier customers worldwide designing a wide range of applications with data rates up to 10 Gbps, including optical networking, backplanes, and broadcast video. VScope is a per-pin "nano-oscilloscope” that enables new diagnostic capabilities during system development, providing the ability to perform remote monitoring of live signals on deployed systems.
Vitesse’s patented VScope technology addresses the accessibility and accuracy challenges often faced by engineers brought about by advancements in integrated equalization technologies. This award-winning technology has inspired engineers worldwide to develop breakthrough methods for addressing everyday challenges in these applications, ranging from monitoring in-circuit signal health to maximizing yields through production.
Design Challenge Overview
Through the "Discover Your True EyeQ” VScope Engineering Design Challenge, Vitesse and EN-Genius will offer participants the chance to showcase their design "en-genuity” by preparing papers centered on usage of VScope technology in new and innovative ways. In addition to high-profile recognition, the contest will generously reward three winners for their efforts with a top prize of $10,000 USD, a second prize of $5,000 USD, and a third prize of $2,500 USD. Paper entries will be judged based on originality, technical innovation, practicality, and commercial potential.
Vitesse is partnering with the editors of online engineering product reviewer EN-Genius Network who will oversee the judging of the contest entries.
"Vitesse is excited to be hosting this VScope engineering design challenge and to be working together with EN-Genius Network, who brings an independent, highly reputable engineering authority to the judging process,” said Richard Interrante, director of applications engineering at Vitesse. "As we’ve seen over the last year, VScope has proven to be of tremendous value in a growing number of applications. This event will spark the creativity of bright engineers and students across the country to apply this versatile technology in ways not previously imagined.”
"It’s always a pleasure to help support an event like this that gives engineers some well-deserved recognition for their ingenuity and overall smarts,” said Lee Goldberg, senior section editor for EN-Genius. "I really appreciate the chance to be a part of a contest that celebrates the creativity of engineers and the important contributions they make to society.”
