Viisage Wins Competitive Contract to Help the United Kingdom Test Biometric Identity Solutions for Its Drivers License

United Kingdom Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency Awards Face Recognition Technology Test Contract to Viisage

Viisage (Nasdaq: VISG), a leading provider of advanced technologyidentity solutions, today announced that following a competitivebidding process, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in theUnited Kingdom has awarded the company a contract for a facerecognition test. Viisage already provides its leading identitysolution to fourteen drivers license authorities in the US and Canada,ten of which use the company's leading face recognition technology tohelp prevent identity theft and fraud.

The purpose of the UK trial is to determine if DVLA's extensivedatabase of facial images from driver license applications can be usedfor machine-assisted face recognition. DVLA has one of the largestcentralized databases of images on record in UK and Europe. Under thecontract, Viisage will apply its state of the art face recognitiontools to automatically run multiple tests for quality controlaccording to ISO/ICAO standards and face recognition for 1:1 and 1:nmatches, and will perform tests with non-frontal images.
