Veraz Unlocks Speedy Return on Investment Replacing Nortel DMS and Other Legacy Switches

Veraz Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRAZ) announced today that it has successfully migrated two billion minutes of legacy Nortel TDM switch traffic to the Veraz ControlSwitch™ Interconnect Solution. Leading, long-distance and data service providers have replaced their Nortel legacy DMS switches and/or other TDM switches with Veraz’s next-generation ControlSwitch, and have seen a total return on investment (ROI) in as little as six months, with ongoing operational expense savings. With the Veraz ControlSwitch, operators realize significant savings due to centralized management, routing flexibility, ease of maintenance and enhanced revenue opportunity due to application continuity and enhanced service creation. Veraz continues to advance the transition to IP networks by enabling operators to not only replace their legacy TDM switches but to integrate switched IP traffic into their networks and manage it in unparalleled granularity for maximizing revenues. The Veraz solution takes advantage of Veraz’s distributed architecture to enable operators to provide differentiated service level agreements that are available to all network connection types while improving the creation and management of security policies across large networks through an integrated SBC solution. Veraz provides a package offer which includes SBC ports when TDM ports are purchased, as well as training on IP peering. "Many operators are reaching the tipping point where direct IP to IP peering has become a ‘slam dunk’ business case vs. legacy interconnection architectures,” said Brian Partridge, Enabling Technologies Program Manager, Yankee Group. "Due to the complexities and evolutionary nature of TDM to IP migration, operators will value solutions that enable the management of a single network comprised of both legacy TDM and next generation IP services to control costs.” The Veraz ControlSwitch enables service providers to replace a network of monolithic switches with a single distributed softswitch. This distributed softswitch enables a single point of service creation and control across the network, whether TDM or IP. Network operators can configure, provision and monitor the network from a single, central point thereby reducing floor space requirements and simplifying upgrades and maintenance. Additional capacity and enhanced services can be added in specific geographic areas on an as-needed basis in order to increase revenue per subscriber. The Veraz replacement includes professional services engineering to design the appropriate solution, as well as performing installation and turn-up of services. The Veraz professional services team has extensive experience with deploying a wide variety of network interfaces and protocols. Veraz also offers support for decommissioning and cutover from the legacy switch to the ControlSwitch Interconnect platform. Leading local, long-distance and data service providers have successfully replaced their Nortel legacy DMS switches with Veraz’s next-generation ControlSwitch due to its ability to quickly and efficiently integrate with both legacy circuit-switched and new Internet Protocol (IP)-based application servers without disruption to services. "Customers quickly see the business case benefit from replacing older technology and large maintenance or service fees with IP-based switching infrastructure that enables them to lower their operational expenses and meet the growing requirements for IP interconnect,” said Doug Sabella, President and CEO of Veraz.
