Veolia Wins GBP 142.3 Mln Waste Management Contract From Brent Council
(RTTNews) - French water utility Veolia Environnement SA (VE) Tuesday said that it has been awarded the nine-year public realm contract by Brent Council, which will start in April 2014. The contract is valued at 142.3 million pounds and has an option to extend for a further seven years.
Veolia noted that the new contract comprises the services which the firm has provided to the borough since 1992, including recycling and refuse collections, street cleansing and winter maintenance.
The new contract also includes the additional services of grounds maintenance of parks, open spaces and Brent Housing Partnership land.
Estelle Brachlianoff, Director UK and Northern Europe for Veolia, said, "We have been in Brent for over twenty years, the first London borough contract we won and one of the first in the UK altogether. The special demands of Brent and its residents are complex and unique which made the winning of this contract particularly pleasing as we look to further develop the service on this valuable and prestigious contract."
In Paris, Veolia shares are currently trading at 12.15 euros, down 0.01 euros or 0.04 percent.
