Veeco Appoints New Asia Pacific General Manager

Veeco Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: VECO) announced todaythat it has appointed Benjamin Loh Gek Lim as Senior VicePresident/General Manager, of Veeco's Asia Pacific Operations. Mr. Lohwill be responsible for the sales and service leadership of Veeco'sAPAC organization, which includes operations in Singapore, Malaysia,Taiwan, Korea, China and India. Mr. Loh will report to John Bulman,Veeco's Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and ForeignOperations.

Don Kania, Ph.D., Veeco's President and Chief Operating Officer,commented, "Benjamin's over 15 years of international sales andservice experience focused on the APAC region will be a tremendousasset to Veeco. Over 30% of our revenues now come from APAC, ourfastest growing region. APAC has become significant to Veeco'scustomers across all of our end markets -- data storage,semiconductor, HB-LED/wireless and in scientific research."

Mr. Loh joins Veeco from Unaxis, where he was Senior VicePresident of Asia and President of Unaxis Shanghai. Throughout thecourse of his career, Mr. Loh has worked in a number of positions ofincreasing responsibility spanning most of Asia, including Singapore,Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and China.
