Valero Energy Corp. Reports 8% Rise In Q1 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported earnings for its first quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $305 million, or $0.68 per share. This was higher than $283 million, or $0.60 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.61 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 38.6% to $21.77 billion. This was up from $15.71 billion last year.
