Unum Group Reveals 6% Increase In Q2 Earnings

(RTTNews) - Unum Group (UNM) reported earnings for its second quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $235.7 million, or $0.99 per share. This was higher than $222.6 million, or $0.89 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.94 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 2.2% to $2.76 billion. This was up from $2.70 billion last year.
