Unum Group Q3 Income Retreats 7%

(RTTNews) - Unum Group (UNM) announced a profit for third quarter that decreased compared to the same period last year.

The company said its profit fell to $203.8 million, or $0.83 per share. This was lower than $219.1 million, or $0.86 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.90 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 1.9% to $2.66 billion. This was up from $2.61 billion last year.
