Univar Selects Captiva's InputAccel for Invoices; Company to Streamli
Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2005--Captiva Software Corporation (NASDAQ:CPTV), a leading provider of input management solutions, today announced that Univar USA, a leading distributor of industrial chemicals, has selected Captiva's InputAccel for Invoices(TM) to capture and process supplier invoices more efficiently and speed payments. The value of the contract to Captiva is approximately $250,000.
Univar will utilize InputAccel for Invoices to capture and process more than 700,000 invoices annually via mail and fax from across the nation. The invoice data capture solution will enable Univar to process invoices more efficiently and accurately, reduce turnaround times for payment, take advantage of early payment discounts and allow for easy access to the electronic data captured from the invoices. Univar hopes to expand its use of InputAccel for Invoices to other business units in the organization, such as its contracts and legal departments.
After a thorough evaluation of competitive products, Univar selected InputAccel for Invoices for its scalability, ability to capture line-item details, tight integration with IBM's DB2 Content Manager and Captiva's strong reputation in the input management segment of the enterprise content management (ECM) market.
"Univar desired an automated invoice processing solution that is flexible enough to grow with the company's future needs," said Howard Dratler, Captiva's Executive Vice President of Field Operations. "We're pleased to provide a solution that not only meets Univar's current needs by providing advanced line-item data capture and integration with its content management system, but is also scalable enough to grow to meet the company's future needs as it expands its use to other business units, eventually becoming a true enterprisewide input management platform."
Utilizing forms processing and intelligent document recognition technologies, InputAccel for Invoices applies image enhancement and cleanup, extracts data such as purchase order number and vendor ID and conducts database look-ups to find the vendor's billing information. Once information is extracted, InputAccel for Invoices exports the images and metadata into Univar's IBM DB2 Content Manager system. Built on InputAccel(R) and utilizing capabilities from FormWare(R), InputAccel for Invoices is a flexible solution that can dramatically reduce the amount of manual effort typically required to process invoices.
