United Stationers Q1 Profit Misses Estimates - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - United Stationers (USTR) reported first-quarter net income of $21.9 million, or $0.55 per share, compared to $13.9 million, or $0.34 per share, previous year. The prior year quarter's results included a charge of $0.22 per share related to workforce reductions and facility closures. Adjusted to exclude the charge, net income was $22.8 million, or $0.56 per share, in the prior year quarter.
On average, six analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.57 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Sales were $1.254 billion compared to $1.250 billion in 2013. Analysts expected revenue of $1.22 billion for the quarter.
The company said it currently estimates a reduction in earnings per share in a range of $0.05 to $0.08 in the second half of 2014.
