Twitter Suspends CEO Jack Dorsey's Account Briefly
(RTTNews) - Twitter Inc.'s co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey's Twitter account was suspended briefly on Tuesday night for unknown reasons, but was later reinstated with very few followers initially. Dorsey noted the suspension to be an internal mistake.
For about 30 minutes, Dorsey's account was suspended, which only the company can do, while accounts can be deactivated by users. When his account was reinstated, he had fewer than 200 followers initially, but his more than 3.8 million followers were restored later.
Following this, Dorsey tweeted, "just setting up my twttr…again (account suspension was an internal mistake)"
The social media company normally suspends accounts for sending spam or abusive tweets. The company also suspends accounts that it detects have been hacked or compromised.
Twitter now a days is more active in suspending accounts that violate its rules. It has also been strict about the use of data.
In a blog post on Tuesday, the company made it clear that using Twitter's Public APIs or data products to track or profile protesters and activists is absolutely unacceptable and prohibited.
"..if developers violate our policies, we will take appropriate action, which can include suspension and termination of access to Twitter's Public APIs and data products," the firm noted.
