TSX Up At Open Monday
(RTTNews) - Toronto stocks moved up at open Monday amid buying in commodities, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index adding 72.15 points or 0.60 percent to 12,207.07.
Among gold stocks, Royal Gold (RGL.TO), Detour Gold (DGC.TO) and Seabridge Gold (SEA.TO) were up about 3 percent each. Barrick Gold (ABX.TO) and Kinross Gold (K.TO) gained around 1 percent each.
In the financial space, TD Bank (TD.TO) and Scotiabank (BNS.TO) added nearly 1 percent each.
In the oil patch, Pacific Rubiales Energy (PRE.TO), Paramount Resources (POU.TO) and Baytex Energy Corp. (BTE.TO) rose around 2 percent each. On the other hand, Niko Resources (NKO.TO) shed over 3 percent.
Insurer Great-West Lifeco Inc. (GWO.TO) edged up 0.25 percent after announcing that all conditions to its acquisition of Irish Life Group Limited have been satisfied.
