TSX Slips At Open Wednesday
(RTTNews) - Toronto stocks edged down at open Wednesday amid marginal selling across a variety of sectors, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index slipping 11.90 points or 0.09 percent to 13,314.13.
The Diversified Materials Index was down nearly 2 percent, with First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) losing nearly 4 percent, while Teck Resources (TCK_B.TO) shed about 2 percent.
Drugstore and general merchandise company Loblaw Companies (L.TO) lost nearly 6 percent after reporting lower third-quarter net earnings
Aviation-training and simulation products provider CAE Inc. (CAE.TO) was down over 2 percent despite reporting improved second-quarter net income
Food retailer and distributor METRO Inc. (MRU.TO)sank nearly 5 percent after it said its fourth quarter net earnings were down 42.4 percent
Meanwhile, gold stocks were moving higher, with Royal Gold (RGL.TO), Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO) and Goldcorp. (G.TO) adding around 2 percent each
