Trinity Medical Center Selects Optio's Comprehensive EHR, Forms Automation and Deficiency Management Solutions

Optio® Healthcare (OTCBB:OPTO) announced today that Brenham, Texas-based Trinity Medical Center has selected Optio to deliver a complete suite of subscription-based software solutions dedicated to improving hospital operations throughout the continuum of patient care. Trinity has purchased Optio’s forms automation, patient signature capture and electronic health record (EHR) solutions, including Optio Deficiency Management. The software solution suite is scheduled to be up and running by February, 2008. Optio’s technology provides small hospitals with an affordable way to upgrade their paper-based systems with online access to up-to-date patient records, as well as leading-edge forms automation technology that reduces the costs of paper-driven process and increases patient safety. Affordable Solutions for Rural Hospitals Before making the decision to go with Optio, Trinity was told by several EHR vendors that their 60-bed facility was too small to benefit from their solutions. "We were impressed that Optio’s solutions were tailored to rural facilities,” said Sharon Schwartz, Health Information Management (HIM) Director, Trinity Medical Center. "Optio’s technology will allow us to become completely automated when it comes to patient records processing.” Meditech Integration Another important factor in Trinity’s decision-making process was Optio’s integration capabilities. "It was important for us to find a solution that worked well with our Meditech hospital information system. The fact that Optio integrated seamlessly with Meditech and could point to satisfied Meditech/Optio customers made a big influence on our final decision.” Eliminating Paper Filing and Storage Elimination of paper filing systems was another objective for Trinity that Optio’s solutions will help them achieve. "Optio’s forms automation solutions will streamline document processes and alleviate filing problems due to lack of storage space. We hope to cut our forms printing completely for patient records within 18 months,” said Schwartz. "Eventually paper forms will not exist at Trinity; they will be completely automated and stored in Optio QuickRecord® for direct, real-time access by our staff and physicians.” Accelerated Deficiency Management Optio’s Deficiency ManagementTM solution, which works with QuickRecord to accelerate chart management and completion, will help Trinity take their EHR processes one step further. "Trinity’s deficiency management practices are very good right now. But with Optio, we will be able to take them one step further by allowing physicians to complete charts from their laptops at home. Optio Healthcare’s solutions will make it easier for our staff and physicians to become even more efficient in less time,” said Schwartz. Moving Towards EHR "The switch from paper to electronic health records is something that all hospitals are moving toward,” said Mike McGuire, Optio’s senior vice president and general manager of healthcare sales and service. "For many healthcare facilities throughout the U.S., Optio’s subscription-based suite of healthcare solutions is a natural decision, as it provides smaller hospitals with an affordable means of upgrading their technology to industry standards with minimal risk or capital outlay.” About Optio Software, Inc.
