IP UTRAN provides UMTS network operators with flexible networkexpansion and makes lower bandwidth cost possible by leveragingeconomies of scale of Ethernet and IP. Network operators can increaserevenue with a faster time to market and reduce costs in the networkimplementation.

With the introduction of IP transport in the UTRAN, hybrid ATM andIP-based UMTS radio access networks become commonplace, creating areal migration challenge for operators. Agilent enables testing ofthese hybrid networks, giving unparalleled visibility andtroubleshooting capability across single transport technology andhybrid UMTS Radio Access Networks. The Agilent J6846A signalinganalyzer real-time R5 HSDPA software gives breakthrough visibility andcomprehensive analysis of the signaling and user plane performance onthe IP UTRAN Iu, Iur, Iub-cs (circuit-switched), and Iub-ps(packet-switched) interfaces. This functionality enables customers toquickly identify the network performance and quality issues, bothUTRAN and IP UTRAN, making complex migrations simpler to implement.

The signaling analyzer comes with a variety of applications toexamine radio network impairments, such as radio coverage, signallevels, call-processing performance and user plane quality.
