Toyota Sept. US Sales Up 16.2%

(RTTNews) - Toyota Motors (TM) on Thursday said its U.S. sales in September 2015 increased 16.2% to 194,370 units from 167,279 units last year. September 2015 had an extra selling day compared with a year ago.

September U.S. sales at the company's namesake division rose 16.3% from a year ago to 169,076 units, and sales at Lexus division increased 15.8% to 25,294 units.

Toyota division U.S. car sales in September climbed 22.2% year-over-year to 89,128 units, driven by demand for Corolla, Camry, and to some extent for Prius and Scion brands. Lexus division car sales edged up 0.5% to 12,639 units.

Toyota division U.S. truck sales in September rose 10.3% from last year to 79,948 units, on demand for Rav4, Highlander, 4Runner and Sienna brands. Lexus division truck sales jumped 36.4% to 12,655 units.
