Total Announces Flare-out Of The Ofon Field - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - French oil giant Total SA (TTA.L, TTFNF.PK, TOT) Wednesday said it has completed the flare out of the Ofon field on Oil Mining Lease 102 offshore Nigeria. The associated gas of the Ofon field is now being compressed, evacuated to shore and monetized via Nigeria LNG.

"The flare-out of the Ofon field illustrates our commitment to developing oil and gas resources around our existing hubs in Nigeria. This important milestone of the Phase 2 of the Ofon project was achieved in a context of high levels of local content," said Guy Maurice, Senior Vice President Africa at Total Exploration & Production.

Total added that the flare-out on Ofon is also significant for its environmental targets, representing a 10 percent reduction in the Group's E&P flaring.
