"Their Eyes Were Dry” Cinematic Event Features Documentary and Moving Musical Performance by World Renowned Cantors

The compelling and powerful documentary "Their Eyes Were Dry” will be part of a special in-theater event that celebrates the lives and courage of heroic children when their innocence was held hostage by terrorists in 1974 in Israel during The Ma’alot Massacre. An Evening of Reflection and Song featuring "Their Eyes Were Dry” on Monday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. local time will also include a pre-recorded musical performance by The Cantor’s Assembly with acclaimed cantor Alberto Mizrahi, commemorating Israel’s Independence Day and the 35th anniversary remembrance of these courageous children. Audiences will also hear from the Cantors as they reveal where they were and how this terrorist attack affected them.

Tickets for An Evening of Reflection and Song featuring "Their Eyes Were Dry” are available at participating box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, please visit the website (theaters and participants may be subject to change).

Presented by NCM Fathom and The Machine Management, in association with the Consulate General of Israel, Jewish Life Television and Stand With Us, An Evening of Reflection and Song featuring "Their Eyes Were Dry” Fathom event will be broadcast to nearly 150 movie theaters nationwide through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network.

As a key part of the event, the mini-concert will showcase several of the nation’s top Cantors performing a series of songs relevant to Israeli Independence Day and the Ma’alot Massacre. The Cantors include Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi, Hazzan Jacob Mendelson, Hazzan David Propis, Hazzan Nathan Lam, Hazzan Faith Steinsnyder and Hazzan Rebecca Carmi. These Cantors were also featured in the recent "100 Voices: A Journey Home” in-theater event in September, directed and produced by Danny Gold and Matthew Asner.

Shot on location in Israel, "Their Eyes Were Dry” is directed by Brandon Assanti and brings to light what has come to be known as The Ma’alot Massacre, a historic event that took place on May 15, 1974. This special in-theater presentation offers a moving historical experience about three Palestinian terrorists, disguised as Israeli soldiers, who infiltrated the Lebanese border and stormed into an Israeli elementary school in Ma’alot where teachers and students were spending the night.

"An Evening of Reflection and Song featuring ‘Their Eyes Were Dry’ will touch viewers of all cultures and generations as they experience the realities of terrorism and human nature in this moving documentary and celebrate these brave children during this special in-theater Fathom event,” said Dan Diamond, vice president of NCM Fathom.
