The Travelers Companies Inc. Reports 3% Advance In Q3 Earnings

(RTTNews) - The Travelers Companies Inc. (TRV) reported earnings for its third quarter that gained ground from last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $918 million, or $2.93 per share. This was up from $893 million, or $2.61 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.27 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 1.5% to $6.79 billion. This was down from $6.89 billion last year.
