The Travelers Companies Inc. Q3 Earnings Drop 64%

(RTTNews) - The Travelers Companies Inc. (TRV) released a profit for third quarter that retreated compared to the same period last year.

The company said its earnings dropped to $253 million, or $0.91 per share. This was lower than $701 million, or $2.40 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.43 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.3% to $7.33 billion. This was up from $6.96 billion last year.
