The Travelers Companies Inc. Announces 16% Fall In Q1 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - The Travelers Companies Inc. (TRV) reported a profit for first quarter that retreated from last year.

The company said its earnings totaled $698 million, or $2.33 per share. This was lower than $827 million, or $2.53 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.55 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 0.9% to $6.69 billion. This was up from $6.63 billion last year.
