The Special Event Company Earns Top Global Gala Award
RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Special Event Company received Best Multiple-Day Event Program for a Corporation or Association for the Global AYA Cancer Congress on behalf of Teen Cancer America (TCA) at the 2019 Gala Awards in San Diego on Jan. 10. The Gala Awards is the oldest and most prestigious awards program in the international event industry.
TCA, a national non-profit founded in 2012 by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who, provides specialized treatment facilities for teenagers with cancer. In December 2017, TCA hosted the Global AYA Cancer Congress, a global medical symposium, in Atlanta. The three-day event, never before held in the U.S., attracted over 500 medical and allied health professionals in 20 countries. At the symposium, participants expanded their global networks of resources and learned about the latest worldwide advances in AYA cancer services.
"Winning a Gala Award in this highly competitive category is a real testament to both the logistical and creative capability of our 16 strong team in Raleigh, NC," said Webb-Berry. "This event also shared best practices to enhance the treatment and care of this underserved community, and to produce a program that truly affects the lives and outcomes for teens across the globe was so important to all of our team."
Webb-Berry also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 Gala Awards in New Orleans. The Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the advisory board of Special Events magazine, is one of the most illustrious accolades in the events industry. Webb-Berry has more than 30 years of experience in event planning and production, following her career in sports PR and marketing in the U.K.
