The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. Profit Rises 17% In Q3

(RTTNews) - The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. (SMG) announced earnings for its third quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $157.9 million, or $2.63 per share. This was higher than $134.5 million, or $2.17 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.51 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 9.1% to $1.08 billion. This was up from $0.99 billion last year.
