DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2005--The North American Coal Corporation announces the continuing expansion of its limerock mining operations in Florida. The company provides dragline mining services to limerock operations in Florida owned by Rinker Materials of Florida, Inc. and Vecellio & Grogan, Inc. The limerock mined by North American Coal is used as construction aggregate throughout Southern Florida.
Since 1995, North American Coal's limerock mining operations have provided dragline mining services to Vecellio & Grogan's White Rock Quarry in Miami-Dade County under a series of mining agreements. In 2004 and February 2005, the two companies signed new agreements for North American Coal to provide additional draglines to expand its dragline mining operations at White Rock Quarry. The mining contracts with Vecellio & Grogan expire in 2009, 2016 (per the Annual Report) and 2020.
In January 2005, North American Coal further expanded its limerock mining operations in Florida by signing a new agreement with Rinker Materials to provide dragline mining services at Rinker's FEC Quarry in Miami-Dade County through 2013. North American Coal began providing dragline mining services at Rinker's Krome Quarry in Miami-Dade County in the fourth quarter, 2003, under an agreement which runs through 2010. In April 2004, North American Coal also commenced dragline mining services at Rinker's Alico Quarry near Ft. Myers under a contract that expires at the end of 2011.
"Through the performance of our Florida limerock operations, our customers -- Rinker and Vecellio & Grogan -- benefit from production efficiencies and increased resource recovery," said Clark A. Moseley, North American Coal's Vice President, Business Development and Engineering. "The expansion of our business in Florida is evidence of the growth opportunities for our limerock dragline mining services, and we are prepared to meet the needs of our customers in Florida and along the Gulf Coast, now and in the future."
